STOP eLearning Courses

In order to assist the work STOP Administrators do across all 56 U.S. States and Territories, the ALSO STAAR Project has created the following eLearning Courses.

NEW! Resources and Tools for Administrators of STOP Formula Grants was created by the STAAR Project in order to give an overview of the different offerings and support available to Administrators. Guidance is provided on the types of resources and how to access and utilize them.

NEWLY REVISED! Preparing for the STOP Implementation Planning Process walks through important steps to building a strong Implementation Plan with information ranging from building strong partnerships to locating and using quality data.

Navigating the STOP Formula Grant Program: A Course for Newer STOP Administrators was designed specifically for Administrators who have been in their position for four years or fewer. Through eight lessons, information is provided to help build a strong foundation for newer Administrators.

To Register

• Select “Sign Up” in the top right corner of the page

Accessing the Course

• Once you confirm your email, you will be taken to your homepage.
• Select the button in the center of the screen that reads “Get Your First Course.”
• You will be redirected to a new page and add the course Resources and Tools for Administrators of STOP Formula Grants.
• Select the option to start the course.
• The course will appear in the same window.

Already Registered?

• If you registered for our eLearning Course Navigating the STOP Formula Grant Program, you do not need to create a new account.
• Login in to your existing account. 
• On the right-hand side, select “Course Catalog”. 
• You will be redirected to a new page where you can add the course your desired course(s) by selecting the blue button beneath the Course image.

“Resources and Tools for Administrators of STOP Formula Grants” is a self-guided eLearning course created for individuals beginning their role as an Administrator of the STOP Formula Grant Program. The course covers fundamental information on the STOP Formula Grant Program, the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and the STAAR Project, the OVW-funded Training and Technical Assistance provider for STOP Administrators. 

As you take this course, you will gain information on the history of STOP, resources available to Administrators, and STAAR’s STOP Implementation Planning Toolkit. While we recommend that you take the lessons in the sequence presented, particularly the first time you take the course, you can access them in any order. If you need to pause mid-lesson, you can return to it later at the place where you left off.

Welcome to the the revised course Preparing for the STOP Implementation Planning Process. This course offers recommendations, guidance, and resources for building a well-designed STOP Implementation Plan.

The course is open to anyone who would like to learn more about STOP Implementation Plans including STOP Administrators and partners in the planning process. 

• State and Territory STOP administrators; 
• Community-based organizations serving survivors of sexual assault, domestic and dating violence, and stalking; 
• Representatives of Tribes, Tribal governments, and Tribal organizations;
• Culturally specific organizations; and
• Anyone working to keep survivors safe within civil and criminal legal system agencies.

Presented from the perspective of an experienced STOP Grant Administrator, this course shares tips, guidance, and suggestions for administering and monitoring your state’s or territory’s STOP Formula Grant. This self-paced course was designed especially for Administrators who have been in their position for four years or fewer, but it is also a useful tool for more experienced Administrators. While it is recommended to take the course from start to finish, it is also possible to take the course non-chronologically. You can stop and restart at any point, and you will be able to pick up where you left off without searching.

You have the option to take the course in either English or Spanish, and optional closed captioning is available in the short video clips that appear throughout the course.
