STOP TA Clinic 9/16/24: A Roadmap to Success: Building a Co-Responder Program for Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking with Law Enforcement Training and Technical Assistance Consortium (LETTAC)

Co-responder programs, in which teams of law enforcement officers and victim advocates work in close collaboration to respond to domestic violence, stalking, and sexual assault incidents, are an effective strategy to help meet the safety and other needs of victims at a crucial time. The approach also serves to strengthen collaboration among officers, advocates, and other service providers, which can help build a well-coordinated safety net for victims and provide them with access to needed services and legal relief.

September’s STOP TA Clinic will feature on-the-ground implementers and subject- matter experts on co-responder models who worked with the Law Enforcement Training and Technical Assistance Consortium (LETTAC) to develop a new resource to guide agencies and communities considering the development of co-responder programs. The guide, A Roadmap to Success: Building a Co-Responder Program for Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking, provides concrete strategies for building and implementing co-responder programs. The TA Clinic will describe the benefits of co-responder programs, how they can be tailored to communities’ unique needs and characteristics, and how STOP Administrators can encourage and support the development of these programs. Please join us for an exploration of this innovative approach, which is being implemented in a growing number of communities across the country.
